Enjoy the vast diversity of marine species and dive sites at Raja Ampat, now a marine sanctuary, offering breathtaking experiences.

Diving Raja Ampat is a diverse area where many marine species and dive sites will be seen and it has recently been declared a marine sanctuary giving divers a different dive experience. Pelagic drift dives to muck dives are some of the potential dive experiences in Raja Ampat with new sites being discovered on every trip. The most famous sites in the Raja Ampat Safari include the Cape Kri and Sardine where speedy drift dives can be expected. The reefs in Raja Ampat are full of life with manta rays, wobbegong sharks and epaulette cruising the waters around them.

The 40 metre S/Y Indo Siren luxury liveaboard, launched in 2011, has the same specifications as her sister yacht, the S/Y Philippine Siren. The 8 cabins are either fixed double or twin bed, however we offer flexibility with 2 cabins which can be converted from twin to double to suit the needs of our guests. The outdoor dining area is very comfortable offering a great setting for all your meals. The Indo Siren has designated indoor and outdoor workstations for charging, preparation and maintenance of your camera and video equipment too!

For your final day aboard, we schedule two morning dives to allow plenty of time for off gassing before disembarkation and your flight home. Guests are responsible for their own dive profiles and for obtaining suitable dive insurance to cover all diving activities.

Depending on weather conditions and where we are, we will always try to offer a sunset, or night dive. Guests should bring along dive lamps, though of course we have rental lights for those that need them

Your dive team will check currents and choose sites based on the optimum conditions each day. There is a variety of dive spots that we can choose from:

Manta Sandy:

The two large bommies situated in the middle of a sandy bottom at just 18 meters is a world-renowned cleaning station which attracts many reef mantas rays of a variety of shades and sizes. Divers can rest on the bottom and watch this underwater show take place. If the mantas are not performing their show, there is still a plethora of marine life to look and discover. The reef itself has many smaller creatures with dragonets and various pipefishes. Cape Kri:

One of the best-known sites in the Dampier Strait as well as a world record setter, with 374 species of fish seen during one dive. Blue Magic:

A must-dive in Raja Ampat; a long finger-shaped seamount that starts at 8 meters and drops down to 30 meters depth. Everywhere you look it teems with marine life, colour and movement. Sardine Reef:

This underwater hill is swarming with fusiliers, snappers and sweetlips, schools of Bumphead parrot fish, banner fish, barracuda and trevally that feast on the nutrients in the water. Mike's Point:

The site offers varied topography with one side full of overhangs and crevices whilst the other has "steps" dropping down to the deep with a field of whip corals adorning the slope. Penemu & Vangeffo Islands

Located west of Garn, next we will visit these mushroom islands that are surrounded by turquoise seas full of pristine coral. Mayhem:

This dive spot is notorious for its strong currents, making for an exhilarating dive. The seamount, reaching up to 12 meters below the water, features big bommies that are home to glass fish and Wobbegong sharks.

Misool Islands:

There are numerous small islands surrounding one of the four largest islands

Andiamo:

A diverse two-island reef, with walls, overhangs, pinnacles, ridges and a shallow plateau.

Boo Windows:

Comprised of two rocks that stick up from the eastern edge of the island of Boo, this dive site is a coral garden paradise.

Gorgonian Passage:

This Passage is situated in the channel that runs between the Wayilbatan and Wayil Islands. It is decorated with huge sea fans (gorgonians), in which you may spot a variety of pygmy seahorses.

Karang Bayangan aka Magic Mountain:

One of the best dive sites in Indonesia; a dome-shaped seamount with a finger-shaped rocky outcrop densely covered with Gorgonian fans and Soft corals.

Nudi Rock:

A nudibranch-shaped rocky island and an iconic dive site. Nudi Rock is part of a 0.8-mile ridge with walls, pinnacles and sandy plateaus. Marine species varying from macro to large pelagic can be spotted at this striking site.

Pisang Island

Our first stop is an oasis in the middle of the Halmahera Sea, surrounded by deep blue water. Located between the islands of Misool & Papua, the Pisang Island is named for its banana-like shape.

Batjan Island

This is one of the northern Moluccca Islands in the Molucca Sea. It is located just southwest of the large island of Halmahera. There are two special dive spots that we will explore in this area:
Akiko's Neverneverland:

This is a truly unique dive site, riddled with diverse topography. It adorns a wall plunging to 40 meters, where Spiny Lobsters hide in the numerous cracks.

Tanjung Maragarando:

An exciting dive for pelagic and schooling fish. With the right current, this dive brings a large school of Jacks, Blackfin Barracuda, Golden Batfish & Fusiliers. From 30 meters, the slope is densely covered with bright yellow Soft corals.

Patantie Strait

Patantie Strait is located between Batjan & Halmahera Islands. Strong currents nurture the dense Soft corals and Gorgonian fan gardens.

Proco:

Sitting in the middle of the channel, this pinnacle extends to a plateau around 25 meters. This area is densely covered with Pastel, Yellow and Orange Soft corals, a wonderful array of colors contrasted by the schools of Fusiliers and Surgeonfish.

Batu Jabu:

A massive submerged reef where you can drift along rocky slopes covered with Hard & Soft corals. Aggregations of Unicorn fish, Fusiliers, Snappers & Surgeon fish hang around. The shallows are feature dense Staghorn coral fields packed with Anthias.

Guraici & Tamo-Tamo Islands

As we cruise north, we cross the equator to reach the Molucca Sea and enter the northern hemisphere. Guraici & Tamo-Tamo Islands are nestled 31 miles west of Halmahera Island and 43 miles south of Ternate and Tidore. There are a few dive spots:
Renne's Rock:

We will dive around a colossal pinnacle, surrounded by extensive plateaus and large bommies. This is a great site to look for Grey, Whitetip and Blacktip Reef sharks, and grazing Bumphead parrotfish are usually found in the shallows.

Akejojaru:

A wide shallow plateau decorated with large spread of bommies, which then drops 60 meters down to a steep slope and a dramatic wall down to a white sandy bottom, which reflects light onto the vibrant soft corals.

Makian Island is a 6-mile-wide volcano with a mile-wide summit crater. Located south of Ternate Island, this is one of Indonesia's most destructive volcanos. Tifore Island

Rising midway between Halmahera and Sulawesi, in the very deep open Molucca Sea, the dive sites around Tifore are mostly plateaus with sheer walls and steep slopes plus great visibility in clear blue water.

Sago Sago is one massive dive site, where we dive three times following the best entry points depending on the current.

Lembeh Strait

Welcome to the macro mecca in Lembeh, which is well known for the volcanic black sand, home to many a weird and wonderful critter. This is where "muck diving" all began.

The following is a sample itinerary of dive sites we may visit during your liveaboard safari on board S/Y lndo Siren. We wish to show you the very best diving possible, however, several factors can determine which sites we visit. Our Cruise Director and Diving Director, along with the Captain will take weather, tides, currents and many other factors into consideration to determine which route the yacht takes, and which sites are selected for diving. Whilst we attempt to ensure the number of dives we have scheduled is fulfilled; bad weather can hinder the yacht's ability to reach a specified dive site in good time.

Dive sites we visit may include but are not limited to:

Dai & Dawera

On our way to Saumlaki, these islands have lots to offer from pristine shallow hard corals gardens, deep walls to rocky slopes covered with massive Sponges. The seamounts are swarming with curtains of Pyramid Butterflyfishes and the friendliest Longfin Batfishes we have ever encountered. Spiny Lobsters hide in the numerous cracks and overhangs in Dai, while shoals of Snappers, Unicornfishes and rivers of Fusiliers inhabit the pristine reefs.

Nil Desperandum & Serua

Upwelling and currents around these islands bring nutrient rich waters and with them an abundance of marine life.

Manoek Island

Next we will voyage to this tiny island in the middle of the Banda Sea, which offers a wide variety of dive topography including walls, coral slopes and sandy areas. Famed as the home of a multitude of sea snakes and where you can witness the snakes hunting together.

Spice (Banda) Islands

This group of islands boasts fantastic diving, with up to 40 meters of visibility.

There are various dive sites that we may visit:

Karang Hatta - We will dive in a spectacular submerged reef south of Hatta, which offers steep slopes surrounded by deep waters. Loads of Redtooth Triggerfish, alongside Fusiliers, Napoleon Wrasse and Hawksbill Turtles populate this long reef.

Hatta Blue Hole - This site is formed by a widespread hard coral shallow plateau, which extends away from the island to a majestic drop off.

Pohon Miring - Stunningly covered with colourful Soft corals and Gorgonian fans, a swim through will take you through a sheer wall covered in Leather corals. Numerous big Napoleon Wrasses inhabit the reef and Dogtooth tunas patrol the blue waters.

Batu Kapal - This island is named for its boat-like shape and is an exhilarating dive. The walls are decorated with vibrant Yellow Soft corals. Curtains of Redtooth Triggerfish, Pyramid Butterflyfish, Fusiliers and Surgeonfish merge into a multicolour fish soup.

Banda Jetty - Famous for the Mandarin fish that can be observed at sunset, which you can see just by looking from the jetty. In many places, these fishes are elusive, small and shy. Here, it's the opposite

Koon Island - Between the Ceram and Banda Seas lies Koon Island, an area that is projected to be the biggest coral fish breeding spot in eastern Indonesia.

Sanggala Bay-

Situated along the coast of the Fak Fak Province, Sanggala offers both great diving and breathtaking landscapes. Cool water from the Papuan's mountains flows through thick primary jungle to enter the turquoise waters of the Ceram Sea.

Mike's Mount - Hundreds of meters long, this seamount attracts large pelagics, such as Oceanic Manta Rays, Grey Reef Sharks and big Dogtooth Tunas.

Mikado - Years ago during a storm, a ship transporting tree trunks had to release its cargo to avoid running aground the shallow seamount in the center of the bay. As a result, dozens of these trunks are littered forming a huge "Mikado" structure on the grey sand.

South Aiduma & Dramai Islands

The strait between Aiduma and Papua is the heart of Triton Bay, where the nutrient rich current feeds some of the most diverse colourful Soft coral reefs in the whole of Indonesia. We will spend a whole diving in these waters, in (some of) the following dive spots:

7th Heaven - Undoubtedly a well-earned name, as the walls are entirely covered with Pastel and Purple coloured soft corals. When there is a current flowing, the corals are pumped with water which releases a fantastic purple carpet cover on the rocks.

Batu Jeruk - This site literally means 'orange rock' in Indonesian, which is not overstated. We will dive over a shallow rocky plateau and slope carpeted with Orange soft corals where Sweetlips, Snappers & Fusiliers hover.

Tim's Rock - Expect to see an array of boulders decorated with Green Black coral, a resting spot for Sweetlips, Snappers & Glassfishes.

La Ultima Frontera - Located on the outskirts of Triton Bay where the visibility is typically better, this small island is pierced by a large swim through near the surface. Mauwera & Pelican Bay

Triton Bay also offers spectacular sights above the surface that can be explored, including white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, mangroves, mushroom shaped island and even some Pelicans for the patient eyes.

Pintu Arus, Saruneus Island - In the channel between Aiduma & Papua, this small island offers beautiful remote diving spots. The area is known for three specific dive sites: Little Komodo, Larry's Heaven and Saruneus.

Little Komodo - Known as the penultimate dive site of Triton Bay, which boasts shallow boulders that are covered in colourful large Soft corals, this dive site is a true photographer's paradise.

Deeper down the slope, a large Black coral forest with large Gorgonian fans meets the sandy bottom. When the current hits the boulders, huge colonies of Orange Cup Orange extend their polyps to feed on the nutrients carried by the current. Wobbegong sharks, Spiny Lobsters and Pipefishes hide beneath large table corals.

Bitsyara Bay - Not far from Kaimana is this large shallow bay which contains Bagans (local fishing platforms). Whale sharks are regularly spotted in this area, as they love the smell of deceased fish from the fishing boats.

Soft coral, gorgonian fans, black coral bushes and slopes of coral heads populate the whole Sardine Reef area.
