Situated on the island of Mindoro, 60 miles South of Manila lays El Galleon Dive Resort nestled amongst lush tropical palms on the edge of a beautiful white sandy beach and just a stone’s throw away from a selection of bars and restaurants in Puerto Galera. Designed specifically with the diver in mind, this warm and welcoming resort has all the makings for a perfect getaway, boasting well sized, modern and comfortable rooms, coupled with magical underwater experiences including wrecks, hard and soft corals and mesmerising marine life including trevally, lionfish, moray eels, nudibranchs, triggerfish, parrotfish, turtles, sharks and eagle rays. This is definitely a destination not to be missed.

The resort consists of 30 air conditioned rooms built on a tropical hillside all in keeping with the area’s natural beauty. Some of the rooms offer views over the beautiful Sabang Bay and Small La Laguna Beach, providing the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing evening after a hard day’s diving.

El Galleon’s restaurant has been a favourite with many people over the years. Bringing together a number of spectacular delicacies and old time favourites, the restaurant is considered by most to be the best beach restaurant in Puerto Galera offering some mouth-watering specialties from the sea and the land.

The onsite PADI accredited diving school Asia Divers is part of the El Galleon Beach Resort and consists of a highly qualified and professional team. Asia Divers is one of the most comprehensive dive schools in the Philippines offering all PADI courses from bubble maker right through to dive master and it is one of only two dive schools in the Philippines qualified to train to PADI instructor level. With more than 25 dives sites to choose from all within a fifteen minute boat ride from the resort, this exhilarating dive destination offers something for everyone from vibrant fish life, turtles, moray eels, white-tip sharks to graveyard sites of sunken ships from World War II. Dive enthusiastic will not be disappointed!

When you are not enjoying the amazing underwater delights you can take advantage of the range of activities on offer including kayaking, sunset cruises, beach hopping, volleyball, snorkelling, trekking and gold panning in the gold rich mountains that gave Mindoro its name. Alternatively if you fancy some solitude you can take a short boat ride, choose a deserted beach to picnic on and just paddle in the warm waters of the Philippine Sea.

Asia Divers

El Galleon Dive Resort

Asia Divers was the Philippines first 5 Star PADI CDC centre set in the beautiful grounds of El Galleon Beach Resort. The dive centre provides a team of experienced instructors and dive masters who lead the dive in the water ensuring you visit the best dive sites on offer. This includes areas not frequented by other operations, giving you the convenience of a liveaboard but with the flexibility of being land based. They offer a full range of PADI courses from beginner to instructor levels in a safe and fun environment.

Asia Divers in Puerto Galera is surrounded by some of the best diving in the Philippines with over 30 sites all within 15 minutes travel and suitable for all experience levels.

The dive shop opens at 6:30 each morning and diving can start anytime thereafter. There are at least four scheduled dives a day, usual times are 08:00, 10:30, 13:30 and 16:00, with a choice of sites at each time. Diving always takes place in small groups of six or less and from local banca outrigger boats.

Dive Centre opening times: The dive centre is open from 06:30 to 17:00 every day.

    This course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. If you're short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be right for you.

    The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:

    PADI Open Water Diver (Inc Equipment)

    This is the most popular dive program in the world! And can be your chance to have a lifetime of intense adventures.

    The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

    Knowledge Development ( online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
    Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
    Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

    PADI Open Water Referral

    This is the most popular dive program in the world! And can be your chance to have a lifetime of intense adventures.

    From the beginning to end of the course, you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including areas such as dive equipment and techniques that will give you the confidence and skill to become a responsible diver.

    You attain this rating by completing five pool dives and a number of knowledge development sessions with a final exam (which is not rocket science its just diving) and by completing four open water dives.

    PADI Adventure Diver

    Complete three Adventure Divers (underwater photography, fish identification, etc.) and earn the Adventure Diver certification, a subgroup of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course.

    You can choose what you’re most interested in learning. Need to work on your buoyancy skills? Try the Peak Performance Buoyancy Adventure Dive. Want to know what you’re looking at down there? Try the AWARE - Fish Identification or Underwater Naturalist Adventure Dives. You’ll plan your path with your instructor, go over what you need to know and dive in quickly.

    PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

    The Advanced Open Water Diver program gives you the opportunity to take your diving skill to the next level through three new areas of diving.
    You complete your Deep Dive, Underwater Navigation Dive, Night Dive and two other dives for a total of five to attain your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

    This certification includes five dives, including the Deep Diver, the Underwater Navigation Diver and three of the following: You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.

    The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks and many more.

    PADI Rescue Diver

    Become a Rescue Diver. A great level to be. You will have the skills to aid your fellow divers in an emergency.

    The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. Topics include:
