Cactus Garden

Surrounded by the largest plantation of cactus on the island dedicated to the cultivation of cochineal, a product that had great economic relevance in the Lanzarote of the nineteenth century, the Garden of Cactus hosts about 4,500 copies of 450 different species grouped of 13 families of cactus Arrived from the five continents. The green of the plants contrasts with the blue of the sky and the black of the volcano to create a harmonic explosion of color that impacts the visitor. The singing of small birds and the indefatigable buzz of the insects that enjoy their particular oasis are the only sounds that break the peace and silence that reign in the place.

Tall monoliths of volcanic ash, traces that keep intact the memory of what was the place, challenge in size to large specimens of plants from America, Africa or Oceania, while above, challenging on top of a small hill, look at the horizon one of the last mills of millo that remains standing on the island, where grind gofio, dating from the early nineteenth century.
