Okeanos Aggressor II

Offers great opportunities to explore the unique marine environment surrounding Cocos

Escape to Cocos Island for a Costa Rican liveaboard scuba diving adventure! Cocos is a lush, green uninhabited island resting 342 miles off Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Rocky pinnacles surrounding Cocos are beacons for big animals and big action. Schooling hammerheads, countless white-tip sharks, mantas, tuna and even whale sharks call Cocos home.

The Okeanos Aggressor II is a 120-foot yacht designed and built with comfort, safety, and stability in mind. Powered by diesel engines, it cruises at 10 knots and offers 110-volt power throughout. Accommodations for up to 22 guests include nine deluxe staterooms with a lower double bed and upper twin bed, one master deluxe stateroom with a queen bed, and two suites—one with twin beds and the other with a king bed. Each stateroom comes with a private bathroom and shower.

Guests can relax in the spacious salon, shaded cocktail area, or on the sun deck, which features chaise lounges, deck chairs, a bar, and a grill. The yacht offers ample personal locker storage for dive equipment and provides 80 cubic ft. tanks, weight belts, and weights. All tanks are fitted with K-valves (American type) and DIN (European) valves.

Evenings aboard include a range of entertainment such as diving, fish identification presentations, movies, and games. Guests are encouraged to bring along favorite movies or digital presentations to share with the group. A small onboard library offers books for exchange as well as fish identification references.

All meals, snacks, and beverages are provided throughout the trip.

The onboard menu is diverse and generous, featuring a variety of American feasts, barbecues, and local cuisine. Guests are greeted each morning with fresh fruits, hot entrees, cereals, and juices. Lunches include hot soups, homemade breads, salads, sandwiches, and/or entrees. Dinners are chef-prepared and served nightly with salads, vegetables, seafood, beef or chicken, and fresh homemade desserts. Special dietary requirements should be noted when completing the GIS, and guests are encouraged to speak with the chef upon arrival. Due to the remote location, some special dietary or beverage requests may not be available.

The Aggressor's beverage offerings include fruit juices, soft drinks, iced water, iced tea, coffee, and a complimentary selection of local beer and wine. Guests are welcome to bring their preferred liquor due to the high import duties. Please note that alcohol consumption and diving are not permitted together; once alcohol is consumed, diving is suspended until the following day.

Route Options

Cocos Island National Park was designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. Weather permitting, all guests are shuttled ashore to hike through the jungles of Cocos and swim in her many waterfalls. All ten-day trips offer seven days of Costa Rica liveaboard scuba diving.

The Okeanos Aggressor II offers 8, 10 and 12 night itineraries around the Cocos Islands. Divers should be comfortable diving in stronger currents and open water conditions with thermodines. There are 3 dives per day and diving is conducted from large dive tenders. Cocos Island is essentially a huge mountain starting thousands of meters below the surface and sticking out as an impressive island with steep cliffs and little island groups. The extremely wet climate and oceanic character gives Cocos a character that is not shared with either the Galapagos or any of the other islands in this part of the world.
