The M/V Celebes Explorer is a luxurious custom built vessel catering for diver’s needs and to cruise the exotic and secluded islands of Semporna Marine Park and neighbouring islands in the world renowned dive region of the Celebes Sea, off Borneo Island. The vessel is facilitated with spacious salon, sundeck, dive deck and cabins with private en-suite and individually adjustable air-conditioner.

This vessel has a team of professional PADI dive instructors and dive guides together with warm and friendly crew members to ensure commitment in providing guests the best diving available in the safest and most comfortable manner possible.

6 Days & 7 Nights in Semporna Marine Park

Sunday

Guests will be transferred to Semporna jetty and embark on to Celebes Explorer. The vessel will leave on Sunday morning and the first dives will be on Mabul Islands. On the first day guests will only have lunch and dinner on board.

Monday

Guests will start their day with breakfast and then prepare for their first dive of the day. The dive site that guests will dive on Monday is Sipadan Island and many of the local dive sites weather conditions permitting.

Tuesday

After an early breakfast you will be diving some of the local dive sites in Sipadan Island. The number of dives on Tuesday depends on flight time on next day.

Wednesday

On Wednesday guests will dive will in local dive sites of Si Amil Island weather conditions permitting.

Thursday

On Thursday after having breakfast guests will dive in local dive sites of Kapalai Island.

Friday & Saturday

The Celebes Explorer will make its way back to Sipadan Island and guests will have the opportunity to dive most of the local dive sites in the island. The number of dives on Saturday depends on flight time on next day.

The boat will normally cruise back to Semporna jetty in the late afternoon on Saturday.

Dive sites are selected by the Captain and may vary due to weather conditions and logistics.

Semporna Marine Park

Semporna Marine Park is situated off the east of Sabah. It is one of the prime marine conservation sites in South East Asia.

The region covers a tremendous 325 sq. km. Included in the Marine Park are rocky islands, low-lying sand cays, lagoons and open water.

The Park has come up with management strategies for the ecological issues to do with coral in the Borneo Sea. A vast assortion of ecosystems is represented through the Marine Park, and Semporna are concerned highly, with the maintenance of the coral and Borneo seas.

A management plan for Semporna Marine Park, produced by the Marine Conservation Society through the Semporna Islands Project (1998-2000), ensures that preservation matters and impending benefits of the Marine Park are acknowledged.

There are several ecological issues that Semporna needs to keep in check, in order to be a successful Marine Park, as their focus is on marine conservation. If they keep all of the important issues in check, e.g. Coral conservation, then the park will be successful in serving its purpose.

Borneo Culture & Nature Tour

Day 1 -Kota Kinabalu / Kota Belud /Rungus Longhouse (Lunch/Dinner)

In the morning at around 8am, you will be picked up from Kota Kinabalu city hotel.
Depart for Kota Belud for lunch before proceeding to the northern tip of Borneo, and then Longhouse of the Rungus tribe. Upon arrival at Longhouse, free at leisure. At night, experience a Rungus dinner & share some jokes with the villagers.

Day 2 - Rungus Longhouse / Kinabalu Park (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

You will experience a Rungus village morning with birds singing amidst the crowing of the roosters in the background. A traditional Rungus breakfast of steam farm produces like sweet potatoes & tapioca with tea or coffee will be served followed by a chance to buy some Rungus handmade handicrafts.

Depart for Kinabalu Park. Upon arrival, you can opt to do the many trails at the Park. After lunch, you could visit the botanical garden or do some nature walks. Dinner will be served at rest

Klias River Cruise Wildlife

At around 2 o’clock in the afternoon you will be picked up from a Kota Kinabalu city hotel or Kota Kinabalu airport and depart for Klias driving pass remote villages.

Arrive at Klias at around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, then cruise by boat in search of proboscis monkey and long tail macaque.

At around 6:30 in the evening, you will experience a local kampung style. After dinner, get a glimpse of the fire flies at the lounge (subject to weather condition). Then, depart back to Kota Kinabalu.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Park Island Tour

At around 9am you will be picked up from a Kota Kinabalu city hotel and transferred to the jetty for a 15-20 minutes’ boat ride to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park Island.

The Tunku Abdul Rahman Park is a snorkelling, diving and even jungle walking sanctuary. Transfer to one of the islands at Sapi or Mamutik where you can swim and snorkel. Then transfer to Manukan Island for BBQ lunch.

After lunch at the island, you have time to relax before your transfer back to Kota Kinabalu. On arrival in Kota Kinabalu you will be picked up from the jetty and transfered back to city hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

Manukan Island Escape

Day 1 - Kota Kinabalu / Manukan Island (Lunch/Dinner)

Poring Hot Spring & Kinabalu Park

Morning pick up at about 7:30am from Kota Kinabalu city hotel and depart for Poring Hot Spring (about 3 hours’ drive) driving pass remote villages with great scenery.

Upon arrival, take a quick dip in the hot spring pool (optional charge) which most people believed to possess medicinal effect. There is also an option to trek to the Poring Canopy Walkway to experience life & sight from above tree tops. After that, depart for Kinabalu Park.

Orang Utan Half Day Excursion

Day 1 - SANDAKAN/SELINGAN ISLAND (Lunch/Dinner)

Meet upon arrival at Sandakan airport. First you will have a guided tour to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Trek ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 10am.
