MY Sheena

Ideal for divers and non-divers.

Departing from Medhufushi Island Resort every Sunday this trip takes in Meemu, Laamu and Thaa Atolls in the southern Maldives. This is perfect to add a few days either side to relax in resort.

MY Sheena is an authentic Maldivian diving boat operated by the world famous Werner Lau. MY Sheena has a spacious salon and a number of decks offering shade or exposure to the sun with one deck in front of the salon, one behind at the stern and one behind the cabins on the upper deck, all furnished with sun loungers and mats. MY Sheena has 2 owner cabins and 5 standard cabins all with en-suite bathrooms.

MY Sheena is accompanied by a diving “dhoni” with the capacity of transporting 18 divers at one time. The guest’s diving equipment will be permanently stored on the “dhoni” as this is where the diving will take place from. It is possible for divers to rent equipment from Werner Lau’s fully equipped “island diving centre” on Medhufushi Island with advance notice.

Meals will be served on the main table located outside at the stern so you can enjoy your food overlooking the clear blue seas and taking in the surrounding breath taking views. MY Sheena has a well-stocked bar offering a wide variety of drinks for guests located in the salon and on the shaded deck. A barbeque on one of the islands is arranged once a week and is undoubtedly one of the highlights for every guest on MY Sheena. On request, a romantic candlelight dinner for two under the stars on the sun deck can be arranged.

7 Nights aboard MY Sheena

This was some pretty challenging but ultimately very rewarding diving, I dived the southern itinerary. The best dives were dives in the channels at the outside of the reef, looking for palegics often at depth in specific spots often along ridges or shelves in the coral. When the current was strong, you could dive the site relatively easily but only if you stuck to the specific dive technique of hugging the bottom and staying out of the current. This could lead to consistently deep diving. If you drifted too shallow, the dives could all of a sudden become a lot more strenuous. Saying that the guides took us on conservative dive profiles. Nitrox I would say was essential. We were almost always alone at dive sites which was excellent. The crew were all super helpful and really friendly. I thought the dive guides were very experienced and generally top quality.
