Day 2-7: Diving days
Top Dive Sites:

French Cay - Double D - Simply the Garden of Eden. The wall is overgrown and marine life is abundant. Two huge coral mounds are teeming with fish. A resident spotted scorpionfish often poses for photographers. Spotted Eagle Rays are often seen here.

French Cay - G-Spot - An absolutely beautiful wall with many huge deep water gorgonians and orange elephant ear sponges growing at the wall’s edge.

French Cay - Rock and Roll - The top of the wall is at 40 feet. Plenty of barrel sponges, elkhorn, and pillar coral. Juvenile barracuda and lobsters were spotted during the day. This is a great afternoon and night dive.

French Cay - West Sand Spit - (5 miles south of French Cay) The wall starts at 40 feet, and it is covered with huge coral formations—pillar corals, barrel sponges, and deep water gorgonians. Look for nurse sharks, French angels, ocean triggerfish, and huge stingrays. This site is weather permitting.

Northwest Point - Black Coral Forest - The walls start at 45 feet and drop to below 300 feet. There is an overhang in which at least 5 species of black coral are growing. The base of the overhang is at 75 feet.

Northwest Point - Shark Hotel - Named for the Caribbean Reef Sharks sometimes seen cruising the wall. The wall levels at 90 feet in a plateau covered with plate corals. At 100 feet, a chimney cuts through the reef, exiting at 130 feet on the deep wall. Lots of pillar coral on top of the wall.

Northwest Point - The Crack - The wall doglegs to the south, forming a huge penny slot crack in which divers can swim and exit at any time. A massive barrel sponge with an anemone above it is at 85 feet. Swim to the south where you may encounter schooling fish and a resident turtle.

Northwest Point - The Dome - Once the site of a French television game show, this sunken dome offers a spectacular night dive.

West Caicos - Driveway - One of the most diverse dive sites along West Caicos. The boat is moored in 35 feet of water, offering the options of swimming to the wall over the Driveway, a large sand chute, or cruising on top of the wall in shallower water where there are many interesting isolated coral heads. Anemones are growing in only 5-10 feet of water.

West Caicos - Gullies - Swim through a penny slot gully which starts at 45 feet and ends at 75 feet. Beautiful sponge formations at the edge of the wall and schooling fish on top of the wall.

West Caicos - Rock Garden Interlude - The wall is divided into sections with large and beautiful sponge formations. Encounter friendly turtles and spotted scorpionfish. The sand flat on top of the wall has several nice coral heads and garden eels.

West Caicos - The Anchor/Whiteface - Called Whiteface for the white sandy cliffs along West Caicos. Swim through a gully with a 17th-century anchor wedged in the north side of the gully. A beautiful, large white anemone sits at about 95 feet at the base of the gully. Keep an eye out for the resident reef shark, which is not camera shy. Great night dive with lobsters, octopus, and nurse sharks.

After full diving, the yacht returns to the Caicos Marina & Shipyard on Friday after lunch. Friday evening, the yacht hosts a sunset cocktail party. Provo has several restaurants where guests can eat. Friday night dinner is not included in the price of the charter.

Day 8: Check-out is Saturday at 8 am. Transportation is provided back to the airport on Saturday morning.

Gullies

Provo, Turks & Caicos

The wall begins in about 50 feet and the top lip of the wall is a dense coral reef with many cleaning stations. The gulley gets it's name from the cut in the reef that forms two distinct sections before dropping off vertically. The sheer precipice here has many undercuts covered in sponges and black corals and long tentacled anemones.

Black Coral

Provo, Turks & Caicos

An overhung section of the reef wall that starts in 45ft of water, undercuts to about 80ft and then drops to a ledge at 200ft before falling away into the deep, this wall is covered with block coral trees of varying species. In this forest can be found small chromis and other fish, seeking refuge amongst the branches. An excellent site for wide angle photography.

The Dome

Provo, Turks & Caicos

A large domed metal structure with a door in the top and one in the side, inside the dome you can find snappers, chub, goatfish and occasionally barracuda.
A large fissure runs in an arc through the reef, and it can be exited at any point along its length. Starting at the reef top in about 45ft the crack extends down the reef slope to a wide sandy ledge at 130ft. From here the wall drops away into the abyss. Half way down the crack you will find a massive barrel sponge and a beautiful anemone. From the crack you can either go south or find a large field of plate corals cascading from the top of the reef down to the lip of the ledge or you can head north and explore numerous gullies and caves in the reef wall. The top of the reef is dominated by a large pillar coral formation around which you can often find swirling schools of grunts & snapper.

Double D

Provo, Turks & Caicos

Close to shore two large coral mounds rise from a sandy seafloor. Look got the oversized scorpion fish that lives on the mounds. Beyond the coral mounds the wall slopes gently down into the depths, but coral growth here is exceptionally lush, with plate corals, pillar corals and large stands of sea fans and soft corals. The sandy areas reflect the sun off the seafloor, so the area is particularly light. A school of Atlantic spadefish live here.

The Crack

Provo, Turks & Caicos

The wall is about a 2 minute swim from the mooring. Guests can either head over the edge of the wall, or enter a wide crevasse that will bring you out on the wall at 75 feet if you exit above the large black coral tree, or 90 feet if you go beneath it. At this point the wall is sheer until a ledge at approximately 140 feet. The ledge extends out about 30ft and then drops of into the abyss. About 100 feet from the swim through is the Crack. It runs the entire height of the wall and cuts back in a big curve. Further along the plate coral steps down creating a wide buttress. This is the turn around point of the dive. As you swim back along the top of the wall there are schools of grunts and snappers hovering over the crack. .

Rock Garden

Provo, Turks & Caicos

The top of the wall is a sand area of stability sprinkled with small coral heads. A fringing reef follows the edge of the wall, home to grunts and snappers. Small sand chutes break through the reef, leading to the steps of plate coral that make up the wall here.

  • Dive Type: Boat Dive
  • Diver Level: Open Water Diver
  • Max Depth: 18m

Rock and Roll

Provo, Turks & Caicos

The wall starts at 60' and slopes deceptively quickly straight down. As great as the wall is, this is an incredible dive in the shallower water with beds of stag horn coral that are layered with grunts, soldier fish and squirrelfish. There are often huge eagle rays cruising the along the top of the wall as well as reef sharks and schools of jacks.

West Sand Spit

Provo, Turks & Caicos

The West Sand Spit is an area of sand in the open ocean which has about 50 feet of sand exposed and dry at low tide. The wall here begins in 60 feet and drops to about 150 feet. A large school of goatfish call this area home, as well as many other species.
