The Royal Kona Resort overlooks the picturesque Kailua Bay on a scenic stretch along the the west coast of Hawaii. Conveniently located within walking distance to the bustling town of Kailua-Kona, this oceanfront village packs in stunning sun-drenched shores as well as historic sites, geological wonders, cosmopolitan vilbes and scores of restaurants for a gastronomic treat.

The hotel features 436 rooms, ranging from partial ocean view rooms to the Royal Suites which offer full panoramic views of the ocean. The rooms are comfortable and luxurious with modern amenities and are located in the multiple towers of the resort. Also located within the resort is a beauty salon, self-service laundry and spa centre, which offers a variety of treatments to pamper guests.

Recreational options include the swimming pool, which is conveniently located next to the bar which sells cocktails and snacks, and the private saltwater swimming lagoon which is perfect for snorkelling beginners and is great for kids. You can also make use of the Tennis Club, which is every bit a championship facility featuring a shop and four courts which are available for day or night play. Alternatively visit the fitness centre where you can work out whilst enjoying panoramic ocean views.

Dining options on-site include the resort’s signature Don the Beachcomber Restaurant, where the food is as amazing as the view. Enjoy the fresh, local ingredients used in the fusions of Asian and European dishes while listening to Hawaiian music and taking in the view of the ocean. You may even be lucky enough to see some spinner dolphins or migrating humpback whales during late October. Don’s Mai Tai Bar is the largest open-air oceanfront bar in Kailua-Kona and offers a variety of Mai Tais, craft beers and Hawaiian specialty drinks including unique rum concoctions. You can relax in Don’s Breezeway Lounge which displays inviting sofas and armchairs, perfect for watching dazzling sunsets each night.

The team combine their love of the ocean with passion for scuba diving to showcase the extraordinary dive sites of Kona Coast, such as Suck'em Up Lava Tube, Golden Arches, or Kaiwi Point. Discover kaleidoscopic reef fish, graceful turtles and playful dolphins alongside pristine coral reefs, lava rock arches and dramatic caverns. Jack's Diving Locker also runs regular night snorkel adventures to get upclose to the majestic giant manta rays who reside year-round in the crystal-clear waters and feed off the abundant microscopic plankton - a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (Exc Equipment)

The Advanced Open Water Diver program gives you the opportunity to take your diving skill to the next level through three new areas of diving.
You complete your Deep Dive, Underwater Navigation Dive, Night Dive and two other dives for a total of five to attain your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives - Deep and Underwater Navigation - and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.

The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have - photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks and many more.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving

This course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. If you're short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be right for you.

Your PADI Professional will have you practice putting your gear together and doing a pre-dive safety check with your buddy. In the water, you’ll review all the basic scuba skills with a focus on good buoyancy control.
