The SSI Deep Diving course expands your underwater boundaries by introducing you to the techniques, knowledge, and safety procedures required to explore depths beyond the limits of recreational Open Water diving.

This certification program takes you deeper into the underwater world while developing your confidence and awareness at increased depths. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the program emphasises practical experience. You will dive alongside an instructor to learn how depth affects your body, equipment, buoyancy, air consumption, and dive planning. Completing this program qualifies you to conduct recreational dives to a maximum depth of 40 metres, within the limits of your training and experience.

What the Course Entails

Deep Diving Techniques: Learn how depth affects your body, equipment, buoyancy, air consumption, and dive planning.

Dive Planning: Master the procedures for planning and conducting safe dives to depths of up to 40 metres.

Safety & Emergency Procedures: Develop the skills required to recognise and manage potential problems associated with deeper diving.

Equipment Management: Understand how to configure and use your diving equipment effectively at increased depths.

Course Duration: 2 Days

Course Pre-requisites

Certification: Hold a valid SSI Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent recognised certification from another training agency.

Minimum Age: Must be 15 years old by the start of the practical training.

Health Status: Complete a medical statement confirming fitness to dive safely.

Course Flow

Digital Learning: Study the core theory concepts online at your own pace before meeting your instructor.

Briefing: Review depth-related risks, dive planning, safety procedures, and equipment configurations before each training dive.

Open Water Training: Complete the required deep dives under the direct supervision of your SSI instructor, developing your skills and confidence at greater depths.

Debriefing: Review your performance with your instructor, discuss depth-related observations, and log each completed dive.

Certification: Receive your digital C-card once your instructor has confirmed that all required knowledge and skills have been successfully completed.
