SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Course

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox course introduces you to the benefits of breathing enriched air, allowing you to extend your no-decompression limits and make more efficient use of your time underwater.

This certification program gives you the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely plan and conduct dives using enriched air with oxygen concentrations of up to 40%. Rather than relying on standard air calculations, you will learn how oxygen exposure affects your dive planning, how to analyse your gas mixture, and how to set your dive computer correctly. Completing this program gives you greater flexibility when planning recreational dives and is an essential step for divers looking to maximise their time underwater.

What the Course Entails

Nitrox Theory: Understand the advantages, limitations, and physiological effects of breathing enriched air.

Gas Analysis: Learn how to analyse your cylinder's oxygen content and verify that the mixture is suitable for your planned dive.

Dive Planning: Calculate maximum operating depths and no-decompression limits based on your selected Nitrox mixture.

Computer Configuration: Learn how to correctly program your dive computer for enriched air and monitor oxygen exposure throughout the dive.

Course Duration: 1 Days

Course Pre-requisites

Certification: Hold a valid Open Water Diver certification from SSI or an equivalent recognised training agency.

Minimum Age: Be at least 10 years old by the start of the practical training.

Health Status: Complete a medical statement confirming fitness to dive safely.

Course Flow

Digital Learning: Study the core Nitrox theory online at your own pace before meeting your instructor.

Briefing: Review gas mixtures, oxygen exposure, maximum operating depths, and safe dive-planning procedures.

Gas Analysis: Practise analysing your breathing gas and confirming the oxygen percentage before diving.

Dive Planning: Use your Nitrox mixture and dive computer to plan safe recreational dives within the limits of your training.

Certification: Receive your digital C-card once your instructor confirms that all required knowledge and skills have been successfully completed.
