Often referred to as a ‘tropical dream’ the Ellaidhoo Maldives is a welcoming, small coral island with lush green gardens surrounding this modestly built resort. Dive and Sail is the dive centre based at Ellaidhoo Maldives offering a number of daily boat dives and PADI courses. A usual day includes a 2 tank dive in the morning and again in the afternoon, however there are day trips and night dives every week for those who wish to make the most of every minute spent underwater. The North Ari Atoll area is home to an array of dive sites with drop offs, overhangs, wrecks and coral reefs covered with an abundance of tropical fish life as well as sharks, rays and turtles on almost every dive.

There are four different types of rooms each catering to guest’s needs perfectly, the 14 standard and 28 superior rooms are of a good size which makes them ideal for families and groups of friends travelling together. With small blocks of rooms nestled in the luscious vegetation overlooking the beautiful views of the Indian Ocean, each room is fitted with air conditioning and has a semi open air bathroom bringing nature to you. The 46 individual beach bungalows are situated along the edge of the beautiful beach, where you can step from your room right onto the white sand. The 24 water bungalows, which are built on wooden stilts, literally bring the ocean to your doorstep you can enjoy direct access down to the house reef or sit back and watch the spectacular views from your veranda.

There are two restaurants at the Ellaidhoo Maldives, the Madi Restaurant which is a lovely buffet style restaurant catering for guests with all dietary requirements and the Malamathi Restaurant and Bar, also a buffet style restaurant catering exclusively to the residents of the water bungalows. On the outer deck by the pool there is an al-fresco a-la-carte dining option for all guests at an extra cost.

Chaaya Reef Ellaidhoo

The Dive & Sail Ellaidhoo is located on the grounds of the beautiful Chaaya Reef Ellaidhoo Resort with a strong multi-lingual team consisting of 8 instructors, 3 office managers and 1 snorkel guide to ensure guest’s diving experience runs smoothly. As 5* PADI accredited centre they offer all the standard PADI diving courses as well as Nirtox, dive specialities and several different daily boat dives with no minimum number of divers required.

The Dive & Sail Ellaidhoo offers several different daily boat dives, the first one leaving at 08:30, the regular boat dives at 9:00 and at 15:00; there is no minimum number of divers required. Guests are offered 2-tank dives in the morning as well as in the afternoon and full day trips and night dives are regular weekly activities.
The international team of instructors offer an exceptional education and training experience with unforgettable diving, the centre has a large reception area, shop, a workshop, two air-conditioned classrooms, an equipment room, showers and a toilet. The centre uses state of the art equipment which includes international brands such as SeaQuest, Aqua Lung and Suunto and there is also an in-house workshop to ensure that all the equipment is fully serviced.

The centre has 5 typical Maldivian crafted ‘dhonis’, all equipped with a toilet, sun deck, life vests, first aid equipment, oxygen and GPS to enable communication with the dive centre and the island. The experienced, well-trained dive team and boat crew are always ready to help you in any way they can, they have an unlimited understanding of all the dive sites and conditions on and around the reefs. All staff are fully trained in emergency first aid techniques.

As Ellaidhoo lies in a channel the current can sometimes be very strong, even to the point where it is not Diveable anymore. With a medium to strong current you have the possibility to hide in the big overhangs of the south site. The dive sites in the northern Ari Atoll count to the 100 best in the world! Giris and thilas, channels, out reefs, drop offs, overhangs and wrecks are full with great variety of fish. To see sharks, rays and turtles is just normal in the daily divers' life. Trained divers can spot colourful nudebranch, crabs, frogfish and other small animals living on the reef. The legen-dary house reef of Ellaidhoo with its 6 entries and exits also offers 32% nitrox mix is FOC for certified divers when pre-booking your daily diving

Diving Courses:

The dive packages listed on the table below are based on consecutive days on the house reef only. All dives are unguided and include tanks and weights. Boat trips to other dive sites are available at the resort for an extra supplement on top of each dive.

Equipment is included in the courses listed. Manuals, certification fees and boat transportation are not included and will be charged at the dive centre. Manuals & certification fee will cost an additional USD130



Goods & Service Tax:


The Maldivian Government has implemented a 12% GST (Goods and Service Tax) and will be charged to all clients for all services provided at the resort, which will also include additional diving services. Pre-booked diving rates include this charge.



PADI Open Water Diver (Inc Equipment)

This is the most popular dive program in the world! And can be your chance to have a lifetime of intense adventures.

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

Knowledge Development ( online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The Advanced Open Water Diver program gives you the opportunity to take your diving skill to the next level through three new areas of diving.
You complete your Deep Dive, Underwater Navigation Dive, Night Dive and two other dives for a total of five to attain your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

This certification includes five dives, including the Deep Diver, the Underwater Navigation Diver and three of the following: You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.

The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks and many more.
