Marcelina (MJ)

Global Tailor Made Specialist

I was born in Madeira where I had a very close relationship with the ocean. I had the opportunity to join Ultimate Diving in 2006. It was the perfect job for me where I could talk to people about 2 of my passions, travel and the ocean. My first task was to learn to dive and discover what lies beneath the waves and as they say, the rest was history! I am still here, very fortunate to have dived many of the destinations we feature offering over 10 years of diving and holidays experience.

My Favourite Places

My diving highlights includes being up close and personal with Blue Sharks in the Azores, Tiger Sharks in Fiji and whale Sharks in the Philippines, hence my recommendations list being around the places where you will be able to have these experiences. I also love the small stuff as I have recently bought my own underwater camera, new toy!

The moment I took my first underwater breath

My first dive was challenging, although I loved the ocean I just could not get my brain to engage to what was happening around me. BUT the moment I managed to take my first breath underwater, it was like love at first sight. Now it feels like a necessity, I need to get underwater every now and then just to keep the soul happy. For all the divers out there, you know what I am talking about for those looking to experience the sport, take the plunge and believe me you will never look back.
