Wadi Gimal Diving Center

Shams Alam

The Wadi Gimal Dive Centre is located directly on the beach of the Shams Alam Hotel, next to the hotel’s own marina. The house reef is located directly at the hotel’s beach and it is divided into different parts through three sandy bays where you can easily enter and exit for swimming and snorkelling.

The north part of the reef is shallow and is just used for snorkelling, but not less interesting as there are lots of shallow lagoons and overhanging parts provide a home to lots of species and shelters for their nurseries in different seasons.

For diving there are 6 different house reef dives, 2 of them start with an easy and relaxed entrance right off the marina from the diver’s platform. The other 4 sites need a short ride by Zodiac. On these unique reefs, you can enjoy great dives with your buddy, or, if needed, with one of the local guides. The house reefs are a perfect environment to conduct the PADI Bubble Maker and Discover Scuba Program, as well as confined and Open Water training dives for several PADI courses we offer.

At the private marina right in front of the Dive Centre you can find the centre’s own fleet of dive boats which are the only daily diving boats operating inside the Wadi Gimal National Park by a friendly and skilled crew that are prepared to help you at any time.

There is a spacious dry room with lockable boxes and two freshwater pools available where you can clean and store your equipment. You are welcome to bring your own lock with you or you can buy one at the diving centre. Of course the large and cosy terrace invites you to relax and drink a deco beer or cola after diving and it let your dive day fade out.
