Route Options

Komodo cruises have 6 - 9 night itineraries

Boarding/disembarkation varies between Labuan Bajo and Bali. Underwater Komodo is what diver´s dreams are made of with visibility up to 100 ft. and marine life of all shapes and sizes. Plankton rich water that comes in from the deep makes the area thick with life. Huge shoals of fish and pelagics are all around the islands. The protection from the National Park also means that the waters and reefs are incredibly healthy and well stocked with fish of all shapes and sizes. The topography of Komodo and the shallow waters in between the Lesser Sunda Islands make for some serious current. You can experience up to 8 knots while diving and also highly changeable meaning most dives are drift dives. These currents are what bring the big life to Komodo with mantas, hammerheads, dolphins and mola mola making the most of the plankton rich waters. Macro lovers won´t be disappointed either, with pygmy seahorses wrapped around bright colored gorgonian fans and a rainbow of different nudibranchs on display.

Pertamina Pier - Alor Island

The Pertamina Pier is a relatively new site with a black sand slope in the harbor that forms a haven for critters. Here you will have the opportunity to see ghost pipefish, seahorses, hairy crabs, wonderpuss and bizarre species of octopus.

Misool

Raja Ampat, Indonesia

There are numerous small islands surrounding the second of the Four Kings, Misool, including Daram, Farondi, Boo, Wayilbatan, Kalig and Warakaraket to name just a few. Each offers some of the most dramatic underwater scenery of the region, from steep walls with huge gorgonian fans to gentler slopes with hard and soft corals.

Satonda Island

Komodo & Lesser Sunda, Indonesia

The sandy bottom in the sheltered bay offers a great opportunity for some muck diving and the sparse coral patches are home to a large array of critters.

A keen pair of eyes may be able to spot the extremely rare clown frogfish. About an inch in size, these rather odd-shaped creatures are bright yellow with dark red patches, and are rarely seen to move. Heavily disguised, they are often overlooked or falsely identified as sponges.

You can also spot scorpion leaf fish, ghost pipefish and boxer crab.

Batu Kapal

Lembeh Strait, Indonesia

The density of schooling fish is staggering, with larger species such as dogtooth Tuna, Barracuda, big-eyed Jacks, giant Trevally and rainbow Runner well represented.

Turtles, White tip and Grey reef Sharks as well as Eagle Rays are also common. Even Silver tip and Whale Sharks have been spotted here by the lucky few. Great hard and soft corals; with a lot of yellow tube corals (Tubastrea).

There are some small but very beautiful coral reefs and at the northern tip at Batu Kapal the currents attract large pelagics like mackerels and sharks.

There are also four beautifully covered wrecks, two of them large and all within limits for recreational diving. This area is not a national marine park unfortunately.

Little Komodo

West Papua, Indonesia

Huge boulders nearly break the surface with soft corals and schools of anthias, damsel fish, fusilier. Deeper down schools of sweetlips and snapper hang out in the black coral bushes, hunting jacks as well as wobbegong can also be found here.

Penemu

Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Located in the archipelago of Gam, Penemu (or Piaynemo in Indonesian) is sculpted by various bays and inner lagoons and owes to its very special shape. Famous for its limestone rocks with sugarloaf shapes and nice beaches, Penemu also has magnificent reefs. Non-Diving Excursions: A walk to the panorama of Penemu, with stunning views of the lagoon and limestone rocks. Here are some possible dive sites you may visit: Barracuda Point - Barracuda point is a long and oval shaped reef in the northen tip of Penemu. Huge schools of fish especially barracuda, fusiliers and bannerfish show up when the current is strong. Reef crevices are filled by batfish and surgeon fish waiting to be cleaned by the wrasse at their cleaning stations. Galaxy - Galaxy is a very extensive reef running from north to south on the eastern side of Penemu. Its particular shape makes the spot special when the current is running with great fish action and beautiful soft coral covered bommies on the top of the reef. Melissa's Garden - 3 little rocks just off the coast of Keruo island hide a large reef which simply cannot be explored in just one dive. In the shallows is a healthy and vibrant coral garden with a field of blue, yellow and pink stag horn coral. Napoleon wrasse, trevallies and schools of fusiliers are common here. Underwater ridges provide a subway system for pelagics and sharks rising from the deep. My Reef - Located on the southern side of Penemu Island is an underwater ridge with its peak 7m below the surface and covered with coral and surrounded by an impressive abundance of fish, such as yellow tail barracudas, jack fish, reef sharks and groupers.

Arborek

Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Arborek has excellent dive sites with lots of schooling fish. Mantas and stingrays are common here. Arborek Jetty - Arborek Jetty is the entry to the village of Arborek, located at the south west corner of the Island. Lying on a sandy bottom, this dive site offers some pretty coral bommies where you can find wobbegong sharks relaxing, file fish and huge giant clams. Mantas have also been known to show up during dives, and on a night dive you might meet the Raja Epaulette shark. Lolasi - Lolasi which means 'fusilier' in Papuan, is a hard coral seamount, located on the western side of Arborek. This site is full of marine life when the current is strong. The long reef is perfect for a drift dive full of action. Manta Sandy - One of the iconic dive sites of Raja Ampat, Manta Sandy is a manta cleaning station, located in a sand channel that runs between coral bommies. Divers will enjoy the show of dancing mantas while staying behind dead coral blocks, where you might have the chance to also find some fantastic small critters like pygmy seahorse or pegasus fish.
