Both Master Suite & our eight Deluxe Staterooms, are second to none in size, décor & comfort. Dewi Nusantara has become the ultimate liveaboard dive boat for liveaboard scuba diving in Indonesia.

Dewi Nusantara provides a five-star liveaboard experience even in the furthest corners of the Indonesian archipelago.

With an overall length of 58 meters and a beam of 12 metres, our three-masted schooner moves with grace and stability that only larger ships can offer. Two thousand square meters of sail are complemented by two 500-horsepower marine engines and two de-salinators that each produce 5000 litres of fresh water daily. We purposely designed the “Goddess of the Archipelago” to operate independently for long periods at sea while offering unparalleled comfort.

Eight spacious air-conditioned Deluxe Staterooms can be adapted to either a double bed or twin singles and each has a spacious en-suite bathroom. The Master Cabin is the size of a large hotel suite and is positioned at the aft of the boat to take in spectacular sea views.

Dewi Nusantara guests can expect to experience the romance of a bygone era and indulge in the luxury of space from bow to stern. There is a vast lounge, a large outdoor relaxation area and two different sun decks.

The dining facilities are those of a five star restaurant.

Thanks to her size, Dewi Nusantara has become the ultimate live-aboard dive boat in Indonesia. Her discreet and attentive Indonesian crew of 19 is complemented by one cruise director and four dive masters who all have vast experience in our diving destinations.

If you’re feeling inclined to spend time on top of the water we can offer you a choice of paddle boarding, kayaking & snorkelling free of charge. Keep fit, burn off some calories & immerse yourself in the splendour & beauty of the islands, lagoons & reefs of eastern Indonesian when you take a paddle board or kayak or snorkel trip. The tranquility & stillness is broken only by the occasional bird call (it could be a Brahminy Kite, a Palm Cockatoo or other exotic species) or the splash from a jumping fish.

Sometimes, if guests want a break from 4 dives a day, we offer land excursions to remote, pristine jungle walks. Usually we start at the jetty of a small village (called ‘kampong’ in Indonesian) welcomed by a crowd of eager youngster who want to see the visiting ‘bules’ (foreigners) & show off their village & perhaps school. Then we may guide you on a jungle walk to try to glimpse some of the rare, endemic forest dwellers such as the different species of Birds of Paradise, Cuscus, Tree Kangaroo or perhaps a beautiful python. Sometimes our walks are to the summit of a small hill where it’s a photo opportunity for breath taking views of the limestone islands clad with jungle tops.If you chose one of our Banda Island tours we will take you to the historic old fort on Banda Neira. Built by the Portuguese in the 16th Century it passed through the hands of the Dutch & finally the British. It was an important colonial outpost because it protected the valuable spice trade of nutmeg & mace, which, at the time was more valuable than gold. We tour the fort & then head towards one of the local nutmeg plantations to sample local delicacies & learn about how this valuable spice is grown & harvested.

If you’re a shopaholic & fretting about missing bargains please don’t worry because from time to time villagers will bring their shops to you on a local canoe. You can bargain for beautiful fabrics or local trinkets to your hearts content. However, if you prefer to pamper yourself why not book one of our massages. You will be able to watch the world go by on one of our decks whilst having a deep & relaxing massage which will rejuvenate you before your next dive or, if you prefer, sit on the bow with a cocktail & unwind further. We have two hammocks on the bow deck & a dozen sun loungers on which to catch some sunshine or read a book.

We have a small ship’s library with lots of reference books for all marine life & history & culture of eastern Indonesia. We also have a small selection of games but the biggest game in town is chess played with the crew in the bridge.

Route Options

Experience magical up-close encounters with pelagics and photograph the stunning corals and the marine creatures they house at Raja Ampat.

Raja Ampat on the western tip of Papua New Guinea also known as “The Four Kings”, represents the main islands of Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati and Misool as well as an additional 1500 sand and small rock islands with amazing channels, mangroves, caves and tunnels home to over 1000 species of fish. At the beautiful island of Mansuar you will experience up close encounters with majestic manta rays. Jef Fam, a group of unique islands, offers sightings of wobbegong and epaulet sharks as well as sites covered with colourful hard and soft corals.

With an overall length of 57 meters, there are eight spacious air-conditioned staterooms that can be adapted to either twin or double use, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Her discreet and attentive Indonesian crew of 18 is complemented by four dive-masters who all have a long experience in the area. With her state of the art diving equipment Dewi Nusantara has become the ultimate live-aboard diving platform in Indonesia.

Starting and finishing at Manokwari, our 11-night Cenderawasih Bay cruises offer nine and a half days of spectacular and varied diving, with between two and four dives per day and many fascinating land excursions along the way.

The diverse underwater and stunning topside worlds of Indonesia have combined to produce yet another wonderful destination, with something very special for every adventurous diver and intrepid traveller the world over. Let Dewi Nusantara be your luxury home away from home in this beautifully unique part of the world.

Like the graceful manta ray, whalesharks are great favourites with divers and just seem to glide though the water, without a care in the world, feeding on microscopic plankton and other small organisms while all you have to do is keep up with them for a photo or video scene. Now we present a whaleshark encounter like no other, the Cenderawasih Bay Big Boys an awe-inspiring and humbling experience.

Fortunately for us and more so for the whalesharks, the local fishermen took their presence as a good luck omen and in time struck up a relationship with them, to the point where they can now hand feed the sharks the same as you would a cow.

The Cenderawasih National Park - covering 14,000 square kilometres and Indonesia’s largest, is half as much again bigger than that of Raja Ampat and has some splendid diving, even without the Indonesian Throughflows’ natural currents.

The World War Two remains of the US Navy and Japanese invaders conflict over Papua New Guinea left some extravagant wrecks and reefs.

Due to its inverted architecture, the Cenderawasih reefscape is one of the few places in the world where it is possible to observe and photograph marine species that normally live in far deeper water.

In the Arfak Reserve, it is reckoned that 320 bird species have been recorded, with around 50% of these endemic to the region.

Facing north out into the vast Pacific Ocean, Cenderawasih Bay has features that are rare, even when taking into consideration the incredible range and diversity of diving in other parts of Indonesia. In contrast to many of the other Indonesian dive centres of excellence, Cenderawasih is the only one not to be greatly affected by what is known as the “Indonesian Throughflow”.

Raja Ampat casts a spell on all who visit: scuba divers, scientists, photographers, and crusty sea salts alike. This group of majestic islands, located on the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Papuan “Bird’s Head Seascape,” lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most bio-diverse marine region on earth. There are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with amazing, diverse hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Then there is the marine life – lots of it, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Raja Ampat’s reefs, from pygmy seahorses to top predators, are teeming with life.

Mioskon & Kri
Mioskon and Kri are just two of many islands offshore from the Gam and Waigeo shorelines in the Dampier Strait. The seascape around these islands features some of the most spectacular scuba diving anywhere on the planet. Magnificent coral gardens, thrilling seamounts, big fish encounters, and amazing critter activity are the order of the day here in this marine paradise.

Yangello
Scuba diving around Yangello is very popular with visiting divers. The coral-covered ridges, reefs, and seamounts around the island create a number of excellent and exciting dive sites. One of the most popular seamounts to dive at Yangello is called Mayhem, close to the west side of the island. This is a current-washed, shallow coral reef for experienced divers seeking a little more adventure. Another submerged reef formation, Batu Dalam, is just south-west of Mayhem. Its shallowest depth is 10 metres, and it could prove to be interesting with some exploration and effort.

Wofoh
Despite the fact that the Wofoh Islands have a limited number of dive sites, they remain a popular destination for visiting yachts. With easy anchorages, pristine reefs, and sublime beaches, it is not difficult to see why. The sites at Wofoh are concentrated around the southern tip of the islands; both are excellent and can be combined into a single dive if needed.

Aljui Bay
Diving at Aljui is quite different from other locations in Raja Ampat; it is geared much more towards smaller critters than huge schools of fish and vast coral fields. The edges of the islands in the bay drop very steeply along sloping reefs and walls. Different species of pygmy seahorses make their lifelong homes on the large fan corals that sprout from the steep reefs. In addition, nudibranchs of all types are easy to find around the slopes, ledges, and reefs.

Penemu
Lying just under 15 nautical miles west of Arborek Island, the Penemu Group is a big favourite with visiting yachts. With numerous exciting land and watersports activities, this island collection has a lot to offer.

Daram
The large island of Daram marks the easternmost boundary of the Misool region. The vast majority of the dive sites are not located around the island itself, but rather a short distance to the north-west. They are undoubtedly some of the most astonishing and colourful in the entire area.

Wayil
The Wayil dive sites are mostly clustered around the western end of Wayilbatan Island. Comprising multi-peaked seamounts, karst island ridges, and exciting passages, they all feature abundant coral growth and a wealth of both pelagic and reefdwelling marine life.

Jef Pele, Lili & Kepotsol
The large island of Jef Pele, as well as the nearby Lili and Kepotsol groups, do not suffer from the concentration of divers and yachts that now visit the anchorages and marine attractions further east. However, they do feature some excellent diving opportunities.

Fiabacet & Boo
The dive sites in and around Fiabacet and Boo are quite honestly some of the very finest that Raja Ampat, Indonesia, or even the planet has to offer. The south side’s deep ocean floor rises to a marine topography that features a labyrinth of interconnected ridges and seamounts. These act as filters for the nutrient-rich currents flowing up and over the complex seascape, causing the vibrant reefs to explode in a riot of colour and form.

The Sagewin Strait, Batanta
The southern side of Batanta does not have the picture-perfect panoramas that are normally associated with Raja Ampat, but it does have some of the finest dive sites in the region for searching out weird and wonderful critters. Most underwater exploration of this area has concentrated along the southern shores of Batanta Island at its south-western end rather than further up the strait or along the coastline of Salawati on the other side. However, from time to time, discoveries of both new dive sites and rare and elusive marine creatures are often made.

Dewi Nusantara presents a brand new itinerary that combines some exciting new areas for our guests on the Goddess of the Archipelago to discover. It covers the seascape to the south and east of Buru Island, the Lease Islands of Ambon, Haruku, and Saparua, the famous Banda Islands, and will also include some of the well-known destinations at the eastern end of the intriguingly named Forgotten Islands chain. The scuba diving highlights along the route take in the whole spectrum of Indonesia’s world famous underwater world.

The Manipa Strait
The wide channel that separates the islands of Buru and Ambon features four smaller islands along its path. Known as the Manipa Strait, the islands in the stream - Boano, Kelang, Manipa, and Ambelau - offer relatively new dive sites, with plenty more to be discovered.

Laha (Ambon)
Laha’s sublime critter diving is a well-known hotspot for underwater image makers. The sand and gravel slopes, piers, and coral heads of Laha are home to some of the planet’s most soughtafter photographic subjects. On these sites, the weird and wonderful psychedelic frog fish was discovered. Who knows what other cryptic wonders these sites might hide?

The Lease Islands (Central Maluku)
In addition to having a rich history of the spice trade, the islands of Ambon, Haruku, and Saparua are also home to some of Indonesia’s best diving. Their southern shores, as well as the smaller island of Nusa Laut, offer a wide range of wonderful sites.

The Banda Islands
Now firmly on any tropical diver’s wish list, the remote Banda Islands are a sparkling oasis that rises out of the deep blue Banda Sea. Aside from a remarkable topside history, this region boasts some of the world’s finest diving, ranging from critter havens in the harbour to the magnificent walls and reefs of the outer islands of the group.

The East Forgotten Islands
The programme also features Manuk Island. This is located at the end of the dynamic Damar Ridge, the marine mountain range that is home to the majority of the intriguingly named Forgotten Islands. Here, our guests can witness vibrant coral reefs and walls plunging into the pristine depths, and they also have the opportunity to spot some of the larger inhabitants of the Banda Sea. Manuk Island is also home to a surprisingly large population of sea snakes (kraits).

For a single cruise during her busy season, Dewi Nusantara begins this journey across the north coastline of North Papua, before arriving at the far-flung eastern Indonesian region of Cenderawasih Bay. This gives our guests exclusive access to some of the very best dive sites that the bay has to offer.

The Birdshead Peninsula & Cenderawasih Bay
Located along the northern coastline of West Papua, Cenderawasih Bay, Indonesia’s largest marine national park, makes up part of what is known as the Bird’s Head Seascape. Relatively new to the Southeast Asian scuba diving community, Cenderawasih Bay is one of the latest additions to the Indonesian archipelago’s already outstanding portfolio of cruise itineraries.

The remote islands and strikingly colourful coral reef systems scattered inside the bay are astonishing areas to explore. Rising from the deep blue sea, the crystal-clear waters and sparkling reefs teem with marine life. The picture-perfect beaches that surround many of the tiny tropical islands appear to have been man-made for some grand advertising campaign, creating unbelievable locations for a wide range of watersports and other exciting activities.

The bay harbours a natural beauty, becoming a south-Pacific paradise. The surrounding Papuan mainland and islands are home to a host of rare creatures. Some of them are endemic to the region, such as forest wallabies, possums, and bandicoots, as well as the sleepy and secretive cuscus, which inhabit the lowlands, gorges, and hilly forests. The continental-sized island of Papua, along with the Amazon, has the largest concentration of bird species on the planet, and Cenderawasih Bay is home to many of them, including the rare and elusive “Birds of Paradise.”

The list of native species is not limited to land-based animals; the bay is also home to numerous indiginous marine species. Cenderawasih Bay is geologically separated from the south-west reaches of the Pacific Ocean by a deep marine ridge stretching across its northern border. It features many creatures not found at other destinations, making it a unique and unusual cruising ground for adventurous scuba diving exploration and budding marine biologists.

The main attraction, however, and the stars of a Cenderawasih Bay expedition, are the awe-inspiring, up-close-and-personal whaleshark encounters deep inside the bay at Kwatisore. Snorkelling with these impressive creatures in the wild is a humbling experience, and Cenderawasih Bay features an excursion second to none. At night, the local fishermen sling nets underneath their tethered fishing platforms to catch baitfish. This activity has attracted the attention of the local whaleshark population. These gigantic fish like to gather below the nets to suck up a free meal. Numerous whalesharks are often observed during a single excursion, creating a truly spectacular experience for snorkellers and divers alike.

All of North Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat, including Kofiau
Raja Ampat casts a spell on all who visit: scuba divers, scientists, photographers, and crusty sea salts alike. This group of majestic islands, located on the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Papuan “Bird’s Head Seascape,” lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most bio-diverse marine region on earth. There are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with amazing, diverse hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Then there is the marine life - lots of it, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Raja Ampat’s reefs, from pygmy seahorses to top predators, are teeming with life.

Raja Ampat is also known for its spectacular above-water scenery. Sparsely inhabited, most of the region still has pristine rain forests atop dramatic limestone islands and cliffs, uninhabited bays with white sand beaches, and all sorts of hidden treasures to greet the intrepid explorer. It’s a kayaker’s dream - an intricate coastline with caves, bays, gorges, and hidden rivers, all buzzing with exotic tropical wildlife and rare plants. The friendly people of Raja Ampat have primarily been able to maintain their traditional way of life and values, making it an exciting destination and an anthropological haven. There is a wide variety of community celebrations, including various types of music, dancing, singing performances, and lots of fun!

We have been very happy with the service we have received from Marcelina at Ultimate Diving for our diving holidays at Layang Layang (2013) and Raja Ampat (2015). The latter especially was not easy to arrange, flights were cancelled and changed and her suggestion of overnight in Manado worked very well. We will certainly use Ultimate Diving again.

Schools of trevalies, napoleon wrasse, groupers, different species of barracudas, sharks, Spanish mackerels, and last but not least Oceanic Manta Rays are often hovering around to get cleaned. Some dolphins and whale sharks have also been spotted there… Whale Rock - Whale Rock has a great variety of pygmy seahorses (Denise or Barbiganti species). To explore this site, we will cross over a little channel in between two small islands. Linked together by an underwater reef and a pinnacle, Whale Rock is full of fish.

Pelee

Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Some examples of possible dive sites that you may visit: Kaleidoscope - Located on the western side of Pele Island, Kaleidoscope Ridge is one of the best dive sites in the area. The reef is a beautiful narrow slither of coral, with a sloping and steep side. A kaleidoscope of stunning colors, huge sea fans and fantastic fish life will make this a dive to remember. Pelee's Playground - Pelee’s Playground is located on the most Western side of Waaf island. Witness schools of anchovies being tracked by trevallies, bonitos, and look out into the blue to see if you can spot a squadron of Mobula rays. Toblerone - Toblerone is a shallow reef with a very large tunnel which dissects the dive site from north to south. The top of the reef is covered with healthy bommies and hard coral gardens.
